The Broadclyst Environment Group made a group submission to the Killerton “Poetry Bomb”, run by the National Trust.
We submitted our entries to this event with five of us visiting the grounds for inspiration. A big thanks to the National Trust for allowing us free entry to take part.
The winning ‘Haiku’ (Japanese short poem) we submitted, together with several others was:
“In a warming world,
The sweet blossom blooms so soon.
Is nature prepared?”

Some of the other great Haiku’s submitted were:
“Blossom is early, Magnolia smells divine, Bees, buzz hungrily.”
“Spring is here again, Blossoms on the trees whisper, Breathe us in a while.”
“Wake us from our sleep, Spread love and hope from roots deep, Beauty smells so sweet.”
All these Haiku’s and more were on display around the grounds of Killerton from 20th April to 30th June 2024.
