Pop-Up Bike Repair Café at Broadclyst Funday

Cyclists across the parish of Broadclyst are invited to bring their bikes along to a special Pop-Up Bike Repair Café this June, where volunteer mechanics will be on hand to help get bikes back on the road.

The event will take place on Saturday 27 June, from 10am to 4pm, at Broadclyst Funday (on the playing field in the centre of the village), and is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities.

Whether your bike needs a quick adjustment, a safety check or some general maintenance advice, the Bike Repair Café team will be ready to help. The aim is to encourage more people to keep their bikes in good working order, extend the life of their equipment and reduce unnecessary waste.

Visitors can bring their bikes along for support with:

  • Puncture repairs
  • Brake and gear adjustments
  • Chain cleaning and lubrication
  • Wheel truing and minor adjustments
  • General safety checks
  • Advice and guidance to help keep bikes roadworthy

The team will also be happy to look at other minor issues where possible.

Bring Spare Parts if You Have Them

As with the Broadclyst Environment Group’s regular Repair Cafés, volunteers do not carry a stock of replacement parts. If you know your bike requires a specific component, please bring it with you. This helps volunteers complete repairs more quickly and increases the chances of getting your bike back into action on the day.

Supporting Sustainable Travel

The Pop-Up Bike Repair Café forms part of the Broadclyst Environment Group’s wider commitment to reducing waste, encouraging repair and reuse, and supporting sustainable travel within the community.

By repairing and maintaining existing bikes rather than replacing them, local residents can save money, reduce waste and lower their environmental impact while enjoying the health benefits of cycling.

Donations Welcome

The Bike Repair Café is run entirely by volunteers, and donations are always appreciated. Contributions help support future repair events, community projects and the equipment needed to keep these initiatives running.
