Last year 96 people within our Parish were provided with enough Wildflower seed to cover 270m2 of land, courtesy of our Community Environment Group.
And it has been a bloomin’ marvellous success judging by the fantastic photos and feedback on the Environment Group’s Facebook page, displays in many residents’ gardens and comments. The bees and butterflies were sure to benefit too.
Amongst others, we have seen Cornflowers, Ox-eye daisies, Poppies, Corn-cockles, Bachelors Button, Red Clover, Marigolds and Self-heal – and we could all do with some of that after the last year!
We have also heard so many amazing comments about the Parish Council’s own planting around Broadclyst, brightening up the village verges. Big thanks to our Parish Council.
With the seed mix that the Environment Group can provide you end up with some wildflowers that last one year and others that just keep coming back for more! It has been a great surprise each spring seeing what is coming up next.
Autumn is the best time to sow wildflower seeds (it is when they would naturally fall to the ground), so now is the time to get involved and get yourself some FREE native wildflower seeds through the Environment Group.
