New Wildflower Patches in Broadclyst

Inspired by the wildflower displays seen across Broadclyst this summer, volunteers from the Broadclyst
Environment Group sowed 18m2 of wildflower seed in October 2020, split between two sites in the village. This
included the National Trust Community Garden near to the Spice and Stone and the small triangle of grass behind the charity shop.

Big thanks to Rob Neal, Carly Benefer and Ben Evans (pictured left to right), and Todd Gifford (loan of the mower!) for helping with the ground preparation and sowing and to Philip Stuckey (Lead Ranger, National Trust) for permission to sow the seed on their land.

Now to look forward to some additional colour in these spaces in the spring!

Free Wildflower Seeds Distributed!

During October the Broadclyst Environment Group has also distributed more free packs of wildflower seeds via the village stores and 170m2 of free seeds to 30 people living in Westclyst, Budlake, Broadclyst Station, and Broadclyst.

We would like to thank Jessica Liebig for batching up the free 1m2 seed packs, the Village Stores for their support in distributing them (now all gone) and the Parish Council for the amazing blooms of wildflowers that they created at Town End, Maple Road, the B3181 near the Red Lion and as you come into Dog Village.

Our Growing Community

The Broadclyst Environment Group formed in January and as well as enjoying promoting the growing of wildflowers we have also loaned out our litter picking kit to support the fight against litter in our community. We have 290 members on our facebook group, where we share information and promote activities and are now meeting by MS teams.

If you have any ideas for improving our environment and are interested in getting involved by taking some action then please contact us.
