Top Environmental Tips from a Junior Member

If you are interested in saving the planet, then here are top tips on how you can make a difference!

If It Is Not Far, Then Don’t Use the Car

More cars mean more air pollution which is bad for animals and people. When you go on the school run, if you live close, you can walk to school. If you must drive, remember not to leave the car engine on – some cars can pump out almost twice the number of nasty fumes while not moving.

Pack a No-Rubbish Lunch

If rubbish is left on the ground, it can be blown away and be really harmful for wildlife if they swallow it or get stuck in it. You can choose re-useable bottles, containers and re-usable wax wraps rather than clingfilm. Buy recycled paper and wood products such as toilet roll, to save cutting down trees. Less trees means less habitats for animals. Did you know Broadclyst Environment Group runs a Community Toilet Roll order scheme, we have 30 households, not just saving the planet but saving money too!

Clean Dusty Light Bulbs

We all know that by turning your light off you can save electricity, but did you know that dusty light bulbs use more energy than clean ones? So, make sure to dust them once in a while.

Care for Our Wildlife

Cut a tunnel through your fence so hedgehogs can pass their way through to get their food. We’ve had hedgehogs running through our garden on their way for berries.

Keep Your Local Habitat Safe by Staying on the Path

The reason why is so you don’t step on plants and bugs or upset hedgehogs by stepping on their beds.
